Both countries, Korea and Israel, have many features in common along the long history. Specially, two countries have been developing the close friendship in many areas such as politics, economics, culture and academics since the treaty of amity in 1963.
Even in the time of diplomatic conflicts between two countries which were caused by the Middle East wars and oil shocks in 1970s, the active relations in the private sector had been preserved constantly and the friendship of two countries had been continuing to improve.
Yet, despite of the close friendship between two countries, there was no professional research institute for the cultural understanding and relation promotion of two countries. Due to the lack of such an organization, the promoters from two countries decided to establish Israel Cultural Center as a non-profit organization for the improvement of academic and cultural relationship between Korea and Israel.
Israel Culture Center operates a professional library for Israel and Judaism related books and conducts Hebrew classes for different levels, International symposiums, seminars, concerts, friendship performances and exhibitions independently or together with Israel Embassy in Korea.
Israel Culture Center, which was established as a cultural bridge between Korea and Israel is located in Gangnam area, the center of Seoul.
